Rockwell Automation is pushing the boundaries of industrial machine and system design and raising the bar in motion control solutions with the innovative ArmorKinetix family

Rockwell Automation’s Compact, High-Performance On-Machine ArmorKinetix Servo Drives

Rockwell Automation is pushing the boundaries of industrial machine and system design and raising the bar in motion control solutions with the innovative ArmorKinetix family of distributed servo drives, part of the iconic On-Machine decentralized automation platform.

The two new product configurations – an integrated solution with a servo drive and motor (ArmorKinetix Distributed Servo and Motor) and a separate drive (ArmorKinetix Distributed Servo Drive), “fit” the high performance of the Kinetix 5700 family into a compact form factor that allows machine manufacturers to design more efficient, flexible and cost-effective production equipment than ever before.

Lean approach for more powerful and greener machines

Innovative distributed drives from Rockwell create opportunities for faster implementation and smarter and more functional machines. They offer a modular and scalable solution for motion control.

By mounting the drives outside the electrical cabinet, system complexity can be dramatically reduced, as well as overall development costs can be reduced.

“Superpowers” for intelligent machine concepts

ArmorKinetix drives are based on a revolutionary approach to manufacturing equipment design that requires fewer components and terminations and enables much more compact designs with optimal space utilization.

In addition, this results in shorter development cycles, fewer potential points of failure and higher productivity density.

Servo technology as a driver of innovation

• Easier to maintain and more intuitive to operate systems;
• Faster installations and reduced engineering costs thanks to simplified and modular design concepts;
• A holistic approach to designing decentralized solutions with the extensive On-Machine platform;
• Minimize risk with advanced integrated safety functions and CIP (Common Industrial Protocol) Security mechanism for EtherNet/IP devices delivered over the same cable connection.

The Benefits of Decentralized Motion Control

Manufacturing machines with centralized control are often complex to design, build, and maintain. With Rockwell’s ArmorKinetix distributed servo drives, users can easily move to a decentralized architecture, simplify their concepts, and get much more value out of them.

With such an approach, wiring is reduced by up to 90%, and overall system costs are reduced by an average of 30%.

Your ideal machine probably requires multiple On-Machine components. The ArmorKinetix family features a standardized, system-optimized design that allows for easy combination of servo drives with other On-Machine devices, eases integration, and is easy to understand and interpret.

Simplified machine concepts, limitless possibilities

• Smaller machines, requiring less cabinet and shop floor space;
• Advanced analytics;
• Easier and more convenient installation;
• Improved resilience;
• Integrated safety and cybersecurity;
• Increased flexibility and more…
